Troop 455’s scout year runs from August to May each year. The monthly rhythm runs as follows:
Scout Committee and Patrol Leaders Council (PLC) Meeting: The first Monday of each month is the Scout Committee meeting at Haygood Methodist Church at 7:30 PM. The first Tuesday of each month is the Patrol Leaders Council meeting at Haygood Methodist Church at 7:30 PM. The Patrol Leaders Council is for the group of scouts with positions of responsibility. As a new scout family, you generally will not have to attend any of these meetings.
Weekly Troop Meetings: Other than the first Tuesday of each month and weeks when Atlanta Public Schools is out all week, every Tuesday is a troop meeting at Haygood Methodist Church at 7:30 PM. The weekly meeting prior to each monthly outing is used for trip planning and preparation. At least one of the weekly meetings each month is focused on advancement activities. Four times a year, a Tuesday meeting is reserved for the court of honor. The weekly meetings end at 9:00 PM.
Troop Outings: There is normally a weekend outing each month. Typically, outings occur on the third or fourth weekend, although scheduling varies with other considerations like holidays.
Over the holiday break, Troop 455 attends winter camp at Bert Adams Scout Camp. During the summer, Troop 455 attends summer camp at Woodruff Scout Camp and one high adventure camp. Otherwise, there are no scheduled activities.
