Besides uniform and equipment expenses, what expenses can you expect over the course of the scout year? Here are the expenses that you should anticipate:
Scouting America Annual Dues/Scout Life Magazine Subscription: There are annual membership dues for the Scouting America organization. This should be $85. There is an optional Scout Life magazine subscription for $15 in addition to the fees.
Troop 455 Annual Dues: In additional the Scouting America dues, there are Troop 455 dues each year. These fees pay for the general expenses of the troop and are currently $200 per year.
Outing Fees: Troop 455 goes on a monthly weekend outing. The expenses for these outings (e.g., activity fees, food) are totaled and divided among the attendees. It can vary significantly by outing but is usually around $50 to $100.
Summer Camp, Winter Camp, High Adventure Camp Fees: Your scout can attend summer camp at Camp Woodruff in north Georgia (approximately $600), winter camp at Bert Adams near Covington, Georgia (approximately $300), or one of several high adventure camps during the summer (note these are for older scouts and range in cost).
The Scouting America dues are paid via ScoutBook. All other dues and fees are payable to Troop 455 directly, are invoiced via PayPal, and display on your ScoutBook account. When you have an invoice due, you will receive an email with a link to pay via PayPal.
